Stalker Castle, Appin

We left Coll this morning for a few days on the mainland at the end of our holiday. This is the view from the window of our bedroom at our latest bed and breakfast. The extra gives the context. It's a lovely room at the top of the house.

Our ferry today was late into Oban due to a medical emergency. A call for a doctor on board came over the tannoy just as we were about to leave the pier at Coll. A couple of people stepped forward, then we saw the island ambulance race to the end of the pier. The local doctor jumped out with her kit and boarded the boat. A few minutes later, the owners of a couple of vehicles were asked to move their cars so that the ambulance could drive onto the deck to pick up the patient. He may have been collected from the island later by helicopter.

Our late arrival on the mainland didn't really make much difference to us, but we felt sorry for the couple who were hoping to catch a ferry to Mull, then a bus, and finally the last ferry of the day to Iona. I very much doubt that they made it. We cycled back to Mr hazelh's uncle's house, said a quick hello, picked up the Volvo, and drove to our accommodation. We had a quick bath (yay - a bath!), got changed, then drove to the Loch Leven seafood café for supper: lobster for me, sea bream for Mr hazelh.

Back at our bed and breakfast, we opened the bottle of fizz that the owner had popped in the fridge for us and watched the first of the new series with Kate McLeod, the Hebridean mermaid.

Tomorrow we have the excitement of a day trip to Edinburgh!

Exercise today: cycling (10 miles), small amount of walking (4951 steps).
