Neighbor's daylily

I saw TWO hummingbirds for at least three seconds. I hope we are working from home for a long time next year so I can enjoy the second year of growth of the garden, including the honeysuckle up the wall. 

I used an augur to dig a hole where I couldn't before and plant replacement green heucheras. The "soil" at the bottom was nothing but I put in a nice dose of compost. Heuchera is "tolerant" of clay and rocky soil so here's hoping. 

Today I learned that there are squirrel-resistant crocuses!!! They are nicknamed Tommies. I have some on order for Fall. Crocus tommasinianus.


Ukraine's defense minister , Oleksii Reznikov, said that the HIMARS or US long-range rocket system, has been a game-changer. The HIMARS helped destroy 20 depots of Russian artillery ammo. 


Ukraine says it took ou two Russian rocket lancher vehicles and two special missile transporters. Making a joke of Russia's claim that it left Snake Island as a gesture of good will, Ukraine said that the military equipment "made a gesture of goodwill and dissolved into molecules!"


Belarusian military officers expressed their opposition to the Russian war in Ukraine, in an open letter so Belarusian President Lukashenko may be facing a revolt. They said sending troops to Ukraine is pure suicide. A poll shows that most Belarusians do not support the war. 


Europe has vowed to cut its reliance on Russian fossil fuels by 2027 by scaling up renewable energy. Part of the REPowerEU plan is to double solar power capacity. Spain is one country where InvestEU is funding solar plants. They only plan to replace one-third of Russian fossil fuels with other fossil fuels.
