Golden-ringed dragonfly

I have seen almost no dragonflies this year so was delighted to be able to blip this one in the reserve this morning, resting on a reed by the riverbank.  Walked round with S, B and F, all wonderful to be with as they know so much (except about wildflowers - I think I'm well ahead there).  However, I can tell you that this is almost certainly a male, because his body is much narrower than the average female (sorry, girls! ;))

Another very hot day.  I had intended to do some gardening, but all the cool early morning was spent blipping so the garden will have to wait another day or so.
