Power

Well we finally moved in today, it seems like it's been a long process. Next stage, of course, is unpacking and getting sorted.  Luckily, for the removal men, they started fairly early and were finished by 11, thus avoiding the afternoon of intense heat.  Most of it went without a hitch, just a cracked glass on one of the pictures but then there was the fridge!  They brought it in and we left it standing for a few hours as you're supposed to before opening the door.  A nasty crack ensued with both the fridge door and lower freezer door were left hanging off the fridge at an inelegant angle. We investigated and found the door holding ring had severed.  This on the hottest day of the year when fridges are pretty important.   Anyway we gave up on trying to fix it and have bought a new fridge, unfortunately not available for delivery until Saturday.

Before this incident we had braved the great outside to find refreshment.  Both the Commandery and Goodroots cafes were closed due to the heatwave so we headed for somewhere 'really cool', Worcester Cathedral.   The staff there were so pleased to be working in literally the coolest place in Worcester. So we had some lunch and a cuppa and a little wander around before having to face the sun again.

The theme for today's Mono Monday hosted by Laurie54 is Power.  And as I walked around taking the odd snap here and there I thought about the power of the church and organised religion especially back in earlier centuries.  So that's my blip for today, Worcester Cathedral. The extra caught my eye as I was passing. It's the tomb of Sir John de Beauchamp, 1st Baron Beauchamp of Kidderminster and his partner Joan le Fitzwith. He died in 1388.  I was taken by the fact that her ladyship was resting her head on a black swan!
