MEETING AN OLD FRIEND

When we used to visit Honeycombe Beach at Boscombe several years ago, we made some good friends who lived in the apartments there.

One of them was Michael and we spent many happy hours with him and also with Tom and Paul, so were sad when they all moved.  However, we have all kept in touch over the years and today we had arranged to meet Michael at The Gateway, a café at one of the Cotswold Water Parks.  Sadly Paul died a couple of years ago, but we and Michael are still in touch with Tom, who still lives down in Bournemouth.

The sky looked rather threatening, as you can see, and it was a good job we opted to sit inside, because before long, many of those sitting outside on the decking were collecting their coffee and cake and teapots and coming back inside.  However, there were two hardy souls who stayed out in the rain, with a Coca Cola umbrella sheltering them from the rain.  However, when we got back home, it didn't look as if it had rained - which is a shame, as our garden is still desperate for rain.

We had a good chat with Michael and caught up with all his news.  He now lives in Cirencester, so not that far from us, and we all agreed that we wouldn’t leave it another five or six years before we meet up again.

Having left him, we debated about going for a walk around the lake and I was hoping to get some good shots, but it was still drizzling quite heavily, so we opted for a pizza instead, which was very tasty and went down well.  However, I don’t know what they use to cut the pizzas, because it wasn’t done very well - but we shared anyway and didn’t argue about the size of the slices!
So not very inspiring shots today - but then some days are like that - we have to accept the mundane along with the exciting - and make the most of whatever happens to us - it was definitely a bonus for us to be able to meet up with Michael and we enjoyed his company - so here’s to the next time, Michael!

“Happiness is meeting an old friend
after a long time and feeling like
          nothing has changed.”
