Water Mint ( Mentha aquatica )

Another shot taken in Kanyl's garden.  His pond is mainly for wildlife rather than aesthetics and the mint is growing strongly along an edge and now is in flower.

Native to Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia.  It will grow in conditions from dappled shade to full sun and boggy ground to pond edges.  Good for wildlife particularly insects, the flowers attract Butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.  It is edible and was/may still be used to produce "Bergamot Mint" oil which is used in perfumary.
