Taking The Knee

Minstrel is refusing to eat the vet recommended cat food until he is so famished he has no choice. I decided to Google alternatives as I felt he is suffering enough with feeling ill and having to suffer the nasty medicine without being given awful food too.

I learned that whilst many owners find the ready-made food convenient, plain cooked fish or lean chicken without skin or bones is just as good, and much more palatable. So we bought some white fish and cooked it up for him in the oven. Brian took it to him and his little face lit up at being given something enjoyable. Also, I'm pro at the art of administering the paste now - not that there are many doses left - and Minstrel seems to be getting better, touch wood. No runs today so far!

This afternoon we headed over to Wakefield for the Rugby. They were properly off their game today and Wakefield handed them their arses in style. Wakefield are like a wounded dog and fighting to avoid relegation and have won a few matches recently that on paper they would not be expected to. Rugby is not played on paper of course!

Before the games the teams still take the knee or applaud to show a stand against all forms of discrimination in the sport. It sometimes feels a bit like an empty gesture but I feel RL is more inclusive than many other sports.

In the background you can see the remains of the now demolished East Stand - last time we were there was the last game that the stand was used for. Today's attendance was (I think) 3333, and the place looked full with its limited capacity!
