Postbox

I had another lazy morning and, when I did get up I started to watch programmes about railway architecture.  At some point, we decided it was time to do the weekly shop.  Over the last few weeks we’ve dropped the Saturday habit out of necessity. And, especially these last couple of weeks when we were unable to go out with COVID.   Today, however, we did some proper planning and then, for a change, we both went to the supermarket

When we go it back and had unpacked we decided we’d take a walk to Wimbledon Common.  The clouds were starting to come in but there was no forecast for rain and, in the end, it was a pleasant walk up to Wimbledon Village.  On the way up we passed this postbox that, I guess, features the Queen and a corgi. I thought it was a lovely jubilee left-over.

On the spur of the moment we decided to stop at Hotel du Vin at Cannizzaro Park.  We had a couple of glasses of wine, and some delicious truffle-coated nuts, while watching people in the park.  It was surprisingly quiet both out in the parkland and on the terrace where we decided to sit. We ended up staying a little longer than planned but were back by 7:30pm.

We had planned to do burger on the barbecue this evening. In the end we decided not to unpack the grill from its winter hibernation and just use the kitchen. We did, however, sit outside for a while which was lovely.   The evening concluded with us watching the first part of the new season of Only Murders in The Building.   I think we’d both forgotten some of the details of the ending of series one but we were quite quickly back into the story: it’s one of the most enjoyable series of resent years. We’re hoping the new series lives up to it.
