Farewell Peggy Sue

Over the past few days I have not posted any  pictures as Peggy Sue has gone into a decline and today we made the decision to say goodbye before her suffering increased, On Monday night she was reluctant to come into the house, which could have been her usual 'I'll come in when I please' attitude  but by yesterday it was evident that she was reaching her final days.  Today I phoned her veterinary surgery who pointed us towards an outstanding end of life specialist vet.  Many tears were shed tonight and no doubt will be in the following days but we can know that she left this life as she lived it, a free spirit loving the outside places, having a few of her favourite treats, calm and relaxed.
Peggy Sue really belongs to daughter #2 but we took her on when life's challenges proved too much for our daughter.  I recall that she almost didn't stay, as one of four cats, as she was clearly not happy and showed it by lashing out at us unprovoked.  Gradually she settled and became part of the household, eventually the only feline as the others grew old and left us.  She became loyal, an indispensable Garden Inspector, Christmas Decorations Advisor and finally my Lockdown Companion, joining me at my laptop for some two years each morning, as I struggled to deal with the pandemic.  These are sad days and we already miss her dreadfully.  Goodnight darling girl.
