LARCH COTTAGE NURSERIES

A busy day today.

First of all we went up to Kendal to pick up the new Ito us| car.  All done and sorted in 20 minutes!!??  We bade a fond and sad farewell to Zoom (our name for the Mazda) and then went on our way.

After filling up in Sainsbury's, just down the road, we headed on up the A6 to Melkinthorpe to Larch Cottage Nurseries.  I thought it would be a good way to give Hubby a chance to get acquainted with the new car without too much traffic and give it a good run.  It was great.

We arrived at Larch cottage inbetween Breakfast and Lunch so there was only scones and cakes availalbe unless we waited about 20 minutes.  Well it would be rude not to sample the wears would't it so we had coffee and deliccious cheese scones.  They were delicious and not too big as it just filled the hole.

We then wondered around the nurseries.  Undeciding what to do after that we decided not to wait until their RHS gardens opened at 1.00 (I'll go back one day on my own with the camera 'cos he'd get a bit bored if I just wanted to spend my time photographing things) and headed on back to Shap and then on down the B6260 to Orton.

We called into the Orton  Scar Cafe for lunch.  It was very busy and although we could get a table they warn us there could be a 40 minutes wait, so we thought, well we can have another drink, look at the new car manual and we weren't in any hurry.  We saw a group of young lads with the most enormous backpacks I've ever seen heading off with the backpacks already with wet weather protectors - very serious walkers obviously.

We had a very nice light lunch, the food there is basic but good but if you go early morning  and iin the afternoon the homemade cakes are scrummy.  We then just came home.

We have discovered a slight problem with the key fobs but one has now definitel been sorted, just a different way of doing things to how we are used to but one  appears to be dud so the people we gouth from in Kendal are sending their key man to  have a look for us and get a replacement if need me.  So no worries.

That's all for today.  Do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
