Eda starts school

A lovely day starting with an early walk on Harden Moor with friends and neighbours. Lovely sky and the remains of the summer heather mixed with tints of autumnal colour from the bracken, leaves and berries on the Rowan trees.

When I got home I texted Grace to see how Eda had gone on with her official start at school. We all thought she was starting Monday but she had to go in for two hours this morning. Grace started yesterday so had to ask if she could go in a bit late this morning and they kindly gave her the morning off.

The school is in a hamlet right next to a church and they were all invited in to a welcome service. The headteacher, Eda calls Mr Strawberry, played his guitar and they all sang ‘This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine’ and they were encouraged to sing solos if they wished. Eda joined in and then filed into school without a backward glance. She’s going to love it!
This had to be my blip on this special day.

I’ve done a bit of gardening, a patch by the fence with brambles and nettles so I’m thoroughly stung! Chris cut the grass as the weekend forecast isn’t good. Then walked on to the garden centre for a couple of things. They were busy setting up displays for Halloween but I’m pleased to say that today still felt like summer.

Happy weekend everyone!
