40 year reunion

Up sharp to get Phin walked and myself ready to head to Aberdeen. Managed to leave as planned just after 9 and made good time as the roads were pretty quiet. Despite a pit stop in Dundee I made it to Rhona’s house just after 12, in time for lunch!

It’s 40 years since we graduated so as 3 of the girls all live in the North east we arranged to meet in Aberdeen for a trip down memory lane. Rhona and I first met in second year back in 1979 when we shared a flat and she knew the two Pam’s through other mutual friends so the 4 of us shared a very chilly flat in third year. After we all graduated in 1982, I shared a flat in Edinburgh with the 2 Pam’s and another friend Carol.

We were lucky enough this weekend to be there for an arts week long set of activities but due to recent events some of the things we’d planned to see we’re cancelled. We did manage to take on a few of the murals in the art trail though and the sun was shining so it was a lovely afternoon.

We then went back to the house to change and have a cheeky glass of Prosecco before we headed into town for a pre dinner cocktail. The venue was a little noisy (must be getting crotechy in my old age) but fun. Dinner was booked at Poldino’s, a great Italian restaurant which has been there since 1977. When we studied at Aberdeen, Poldino’s was the restaurant of choice for birthdays or other celebrations.

We were the last to leave the restaurant after talking to the owner (who was very hands on in serving and keeping things going) for ages. It was interesting to hear the history of the restaurant.

Short drive back to Rhona’s and time for bed.

Backblipped Tuesday 13th for Saturday 10th.
