The Cauldron of the Speckled Seas

Today followed the pattern of many recent days, starting off dull and only brightening up during the afternoon. Did some catching up with my Dunollie database work before lunch and then bagged up another Aeonium hierrense for the 11th person who'd requested one. There are several others who've asked for them, but if they don't send me their addresses after a couple of reminders then I'm afraid they won't get them! 

Walked down town after lunch to post it and buy a paper and met a couple of Photo Club guys on the seafront and stopped for a blether. It was quite sunny by then, but I've taken so many Blips of the North Pier with red buildings in the sun that I settled for a gull sitting on the Wetherspoon sign! Not very exciting, but not every day can be exciting!

It's called 'The Corryvreckan', which is the anglicised version of the name Coire Bhreacain, said to mean 'The Cauldron of the Speckled Seas', and is a whirlpool between the islands of Jura and Scarba, some 25 miles SW of Oban. During the last war, however, even destroyers were warned about going through their when it was at its fiercest! Quite spectacular!
