Sandringham Gates

Sandringham Gates

I needed to see the blanket of affection,
To feel that closeness, belonging. To be a part.
To pay my last respects.
Deeply stacked, neatly laid, bouquet on bouquet
Colour and vibrancy abound,
Heartfelt, I added my small token.
I chose pink. One of Her colours. And mine.
This deep sea of fragrant love, nudging at her gates
Whispered memories floated through the adoring crowds.
Each there for their own reasons,
With their own thoughts, as I was with mine.
Each drinking in the outpouring of respect,
Without the need for words.
Her Majesty. One unforgettable lady.
At whose Norfolk gates,
I said my goodbye.
