Red, With Some White And Blue

A flash of red. This great spotted woodpecker bounced down with a nut in its bill while we were on our morning walk.

Today is Battle of Britain Day and I'd read the other day that Norman Tebbit celebrated the day of our late Queen's Coronation at RAF North Weald where he served on 604 Squadron. I decided to take Ollie dog to the airfield. There wasn't much aircraft activity. The Bell 47G helicopter, built in 1969, had the reg changed to G-MASH in 1989 and has not seen military use. In the corner of that image part of a crown on a blue ground can be seen on a truck belonging to Kings Transport. The red aircraft is a Piper Cherokee Warrior II. The Union flag and the RAF Ensign at The Squadron were at half-mast. There was no other reference to Her Majesty's death or The Battle of Britain that I noticed.
