Big Ed’s

We arrived at our campground safely last evening after getting hubby’s glasses repaired. These sites are not as spacious as those in Va state parks. But we are really only going to be there for breakfast and sleeping. Two of our neighbors hurried over to help us set up; very kind and friendly chaps. We ate a quick dinner, read for awhile and slept soundly. We left on the shuttle bus at 9:00 am. Once we checked in to the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) registration booth, hubby chose the performers and venues we will visit this week and filled our calendar. We strolled around Raleigh until I could go no further, darn knees. We stopped for lunch at this quaint restaurant, Big Ed’s. I ordered the “blue plate special” - pork chops, mashed potatoes and steamed cabbage. It came with a heavenly biscuit, drink and dessert. Their food is like a Sunday dinner at Grandma’s, delicious and filling. We took our dessert to go. Hubby got a complimentary banana pudding because our server dropped an armful of dirty dishes by our table and splattered him. She was so embarrassed and insisted he take a dessert. We went back to the convention center and found a secluded area where we have been reading until time for the first performance. Hubby says we will be here until 11 pm nightly. Heaven help me! Wishing you a sunny week or at least safe shelter during the storms. We are expecting heavy rains here on Friday and Saturday. Thanks for stopping by. “Simple ingredients prepared in a simple way - that's the best way to take your everyday cooking to a higher level.” - Jose Andres
