Tiny Tuesday: Best of Friends

I suspect that, in reality ants and shield bugs largely ignore each other, but the opportunity to include the passing ant in the shot of the shield bug was too great for me to let it pass by.  In the image it looks as though they are both perched on the leaf enjoying a moment's conversation together in the sun, but in reality while that might have been what the shield bug was up to, the busy little ant is just passing through on his way to somewhere else.

My brother tells me that in the US these shield bugs are known as stink bugs, and on account of their odiferous self-preservation mechanism are not much loved.  Over here in the UK the shield bug doesn't have that bad personal habit and so are much more pleasant to be around.

We have (yet another) new Prime Minister here in the UK in the form of Rishi Sunak.  Its only his first day in office but he's managed to return the odious Jacob Rees Mogg to the back benches, so he's already managed to get something right as far as I'm concerned.  I dare say he'll go and spoil it all in a minute, but just for a moment things are looking slightly brighter than they were. :-)

Once again, many thanks to Jill (JDO) for hosting the Tiny Tuesday challenge for October.
