Quiet time

For our final full day of holiday the offspring were in rare agreement that they didn’t want to do too much, which worked for me!

We did take a walk out to catch the Haggerston Express (a small land train which gives you a tour of the site) before a spot of lunch and then heading off for another swim at the leisure centre and a little more water polo, which was again great fun. Our allotted hour flew by!

With another quick recharge at the ‘van completed, we headed back out for another walk and to take in two playgrounds, which primed the children’s reflexes for a final flurry on the 2p machines. At the final count, they had earned over 1200 tickets, which judging by the prize desk should get them a sweet of some kind (they’ve not had enough sugar this week…)

Our final night tradition on these holidays is to have a ridiculously expensive pizza from the onsite Papa John’s, which we took back to the caravan and snuggled up to as we giggled our way through The School of Rock (Jack Black’s finest hour).

It’s been an odd few days in that it hasn’t been particularly relaxing, and the children have bickered more than usual (three in close proximity is always a Hail Mary), but there have been lovely moments like this one pictured here and somehow we all seem to have enjoyed it!!

“A change is as good as a rest” is how I believe the saying goes? Let me actually have the rest and I’ll report back…
