A big job

This weekend, Jon has a big challenge - taking down this enormous leylandii in mums garden nextdoor. It has been a while in the planning. A skip and chipper from two separate companies booked for delivery today, plus an order for good weather. That, thankfully was delivered early this morning. I really hope there will be enough to last all weekend.

We both took today off work. Jon had to take Daniel's motorbike to somewhere near Norwich on the trailer, but was back by 10. I spent the morning cleaning, then we sat in the French Quarter for coffee, it was so nice. Then we started on the tree.

Jon used dad's long ladder to get part way up the tree with his ropes, then made his way up the tree to get his rope secured as high up as possible. Spent an hour or 2 cutting the smaller limbs on his way up, and I piled them up on the grass. Then he abseiled down just in time to meet the skip lorry. I am always in awe, transfixed by his skill when he is working up a tree. Not bad for 57!! I took a few videos. I'll post on Facebook.

Once the skip was offloaded, we went to Holt garden centre for some lunch. Jons treat. A very nice quiche chips and salad. It was a day off after all.

We drove to Aylsham for a walk around, then collected the chipper, followed by Henry. He left his van at work to make a bit more room on the drive for the skip and chipper.

Mollie made pizza for dinner, and we all sat and watched Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix, which we all enjoyed.

The tree comes down tomorrow. Watch this (empty) space!
