TENEG BYAMBA GARIGIIN KHOGJILTEI

Hello Lovely Blippers,

JH Ted  here to tell you about the Silly Saturday Fun we have had with some new friends - and the title is how you say just that - “Silly Saturday Fun” - in their language, Mongolian.

Mrs. HCB was invited to breakfast with her friend, Nyamaa and her two daughters, Sarnai and Hulan, at their new flat this morning, so she asked if we could all go with her because we haven’t all been out together for a while.  She was quite happy to leave Mr. HCB because he was listening to the 20/20 cricket game on the radio between Sri Lanka and England and of course, you know how much he loves cricket, so it would have been silly to expect him to go out for breakfast!

Anyway, Mrs. HCB found her way over to her friends’ new flat and they had pain au chocolate and fruit- which suited Mrs. HCB because as you know, she is a chocoholic!  Nyamaa invited Mrs. HCB to have some green tea, but sadly that was not to her taste, although Sarnai said she loved it and we could see she did, because she drank lots and lots and lots of it!

We learned to say “How are you?” in Mongolian,  so they were most surprised when we all said “Öglöönii mend, sonin yuu baina daa?”  Well, you would be surprised too and I’m sure that Admirer would have loved to hear us speaking a foreign language - and she probably would have giggled too, because we didn’t get it quite right - but you must admit that “Looni” could mean “Silly” in our language!

Whilst chatting to Hulan, who is 13 years old, we discovered that she has lots of fluffy friends, so we were anxious to meet them all - and particularly the Squishmallows - rather a silly name, but they are very squishy.  However, there were no marshmallows around, as far as we could see.  I did ask Hulan if they would like to join us for a shot for Mrs. HCB’s Blip today and she said that was fine - and then Sarnai, who is 19 years old tomorrow, asked if she could bring her fluffy friends too so we said of course, the more the merrier!  When it was time for us to go, we counted up and there were 20 of us and 13 of them - WOW what a wonderful Silly Saturday treat for us all and especially as it is the first Saturday in November. Sarnai said that she would like to join Blip, so I was thrilled - I will let you know if she does.

Of course, we should have found out how to say “Happy Birthday” in Mongolian, but we now know this is how to say it - so when we next see Sarnai, we can sing to her - but we need to practise well - although it may be a little belated by then:

“Sarnai tand törsön ödriin mend khürgeye!” or if you want to see it written in Mongolian, it looks like this:

“Сарнай танд төрсөн өдрийн мэнд хүргэе!”

So a special “Bayarlalaa”, which means “Thank you” today to Nyamaa, Sarnai and Hulan for inviting us over - we had a great time and I’m sure we will see you all again soon.  We will look forward to it.

Love to you all,

JH Ted and friends xxx

P.S.  Mr. HCB was delighted because England won the 20/20 World Cup cricket game and are now in the semi-finals!
