Beach Walk

I didn’t run this morning, but TT did.  Our holiday cottage looks out to the fields and it was lovely to lie in bed with my book – so peaceful.

TT and I decided to go to Happisburgh today.  It’s not that far away in terms of the number of miles, but it is a slow journey on winding country roads.  We parked up, above the beach where the coast is retreating.  It was quite breezy, and the sun disappeared as we walked, but we had a lovely long walk along the beach as the tide was going out.  There weren’t many people around, and we soon had the beach to ourselves.  There were a few brave people in the sea .  It was neither too hot nor too cold, so perfect beach walking conditions.  We eventually decided to stop and turned around to retrace our steps.

We left the beach at Cart gap and hoped that the café there was open.  It was.  We were planning on a scone and a cuppa, but as it was lunchtime we ended up having fish finger sandwiches.  Just what we needed after our long walk.  We then walked along by the edge of the fields and could see where the path has disappeared on places and been re-routed due to the cliff erosion.

We continued our drive down the coast to Horsey Windpump.  Unfortunately it had just closed when we got there, so we went for a wander to horsey Mere.  It was so calm and peaceful until a group of paddle boarders and then a tour boat appeared.  Our peace shattered we didn’t linger long and decided to drive back to Cromer along the coast road.  We picked up some provisions and headed home.  Later the boys watched more football and I popped out for a wander around the village.
