Autumn sunshine

This  morning it was dry and sunny and I revisited the first care home I saw last week. Martin came with me this time too. We both like it very much and feel sure my mother would settle in there well. She is on the waiting list as they can't admit any one else at present, and obviously we don't know how long it may take  for a room to become available and be offered to her, but hopefully it might be weeks, rather than months. I actually  think  they have a few empty rooms but as they  have just  admitted a couple of people who need assistance to settle, the home can't take on anyone else, right now, or their staff would be too stretched.
I took this photo of our local greenspace as we walked back to our home.
This afternoon  I visited another specialist  dementia home. It was pleasant there, but not quite as special  as the one I revisited this morning. It poured with rain as  I drove home and then there was a beautiful rainbow.
Later, I attended a virtual meeting on Beating Blindness presented  by some  of the ophthalmology  research  team from the charity "Gift of Sight", based at Southampton University. They do fantastic work especially on age related  macular  degeneration (AMD) treatments  which they can then offer to patients attending  Southampton Hospital. See this link:  Gift of Sight     I have  toured their wonderful labs, and am a long time  supporter of the  organisation, which has been  expertly led by Prof Andrew Lotery for  over twenty years.
