WE SHALL NOT FORGET

For the Fallen
BY LAURENCE BINYON
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

A busy day today.  I thought I was going to have to go up to Kendal to pick up my camera (it's just being sensor cleaned), but it ended up not being ready until this afternoon.  Just as well really as we had arranged for the fire to be serviced today and he arrived very early, so just as well we had everything else on hold.

Then of course we had to watch the Remembrance service and have a 2 minutes silence.

After that I contacted Searle Audio in Barrow to talk about upgrading our TV.  Our current TV works OK except ITV Hub will no longer work on it because it is "too old"!!!!!

Anyway we chatted to Gary, who was extremely helpful and gave us options suitable for us.  What I like about him is, he doesn't push the most expensive at you and he tells you of the good and bad of what you are thinking.  He could answer all my questions without having to look anything up.  He will also deliver it and install it - at a price of course, but it is so worth it as we would struggle setting everything up.

So next Thursday we will be in possession of a brand new TV.  This is our joint Christmas present to each other.  We don't really buy each other much for Christmas these days as there is nothing we really need individually and if we do we get it or save up for it as and when it is needed.

I've suddenly got another busy week next week as well, but I'm sure I will fit it all in somehow.

Do take care everyone and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
