Low Cloud Rising

We headed off to Peebles first thing and were doing fine until we came across the temporary traffic lights near my house.
They have been there for weeks (for no good reason - the fallen tree is long gone) and they were all stuck on red. Due to their location it wasn't possible to see what was happening on the other 2 sets. We were about 10th in line on our side so there was no way I could take the bull by the horns and go for it. Eventually, the car at the front decided to go .... so we all went. There were no vehicles at either of the other sets of lights!

It was to be a reasonably short job at the garage so SWMBO sat at the garage and I wandered down the road to photograph Kev Paxton's sculpture of the local jockey Scott Brash.
All of Kev's works are made with scrap metal and this one is made of recycled horseshoes. He also 'hides' something inside that pertains to the subject. In this one it is a heart atop a column of 4 horse-shoes (flipping hard to photograph).

On the way back to the garage I went via the swollen river. It was flowing rather fast and it crossed my mind that it must have been impossible to cross at the old ford (just beyond the bridge) before the bridge was built.

There are other pictures of Kev's sculpture with the links.

We stopped off at my sister's house on the way back and found that she is in Florida (we thought it was next week she was going) - but the house and its resident hound were being looked after by my eldest nephew who we haven't seen for ages. So, we had a coffee and a good long natter.
