SAYING GOODBYE TO HOGGY!

Hello Lovely Blippers,

It was a sad day for us today because Hoggy decided that as the weather is getting much colder, he needed to find his hibernation spot.  He looked all around the garden, and then saw that Mr. HCB was clearing out his small greenhouse, so decided that would make an ideal place - it was a bit chilly, but sheltered from the wind.  There were lots of leaves in there, so he snuggled down and told us that he would see us again in a few months.

We felt quite sad, but Hoggy said that now we had Leighton, it would make up for us not having him around - mind you, Leighton takes up a lot more room, but Hoggy said that he had had a good chat with him and he had promised to help us all out, as he is so much bigger.  Taz found that quite funny, and you can see he is laughing, but the rest of us couldn’t prevent a tear running down our faces.  We know it’s silly to feel like this, because Hoggy does this every year, but I’m sure you will understand how we feel.  When someone we love leaves, even if it’s only for a little while, we feel sad, but I’m sure that we will soon enjoy thinking about Christmas and all it means and then we will feel happier.  And of course, Hoggy is doing what all hedgehogs do and hibernating for the winter.

You can see that lots of us have got our woolly hats on and we hope that once Mrs. HCB has finished knitting her fingerless gloves, she will make hats for those who don’t have one because our ears get cold.

We are sure that Admirer would love to see us all gathering together around Hoggy wishing him well.  Even Elvis didn’t get up to any mischief, although he did put his legs in a funny position to try and make us laugh - Mrs. HCB said she wished she could do that with her legs, but if she did, that really would be silly - in fact it would be hilarious!

Take care everyone and have a great weekend - the HCBs said there is lots to do next week in the run-up to Christmas - but don’t forget the real meaning of Christmas in all the hustle and bustle.  We are looking forward to hearing the Christmas Carols that Mrs. HCB will be playing and singing along to - and we might even singalong too!

So having given Hoggy a good sendoff, we wish him a long and pleasant sleep and look forward to seeing him next year.  We know that Rachel, a friend of Mrs. HCB’s, has just gone to India to work with an organisation over there, and as she won’t be back until May,  we daresay her family are thinking that perhaps she has hibernated too - although it will be much warmer where she is!

Love to you all,

The Silly Saturday Gang xxx
