Glow

Watching a documentary about the new RHS garden at Bridgewater a few months back, we spotted that they did a special event last December whereby they lit up the gardens after dark. Checking online, we found they were doing the same this year so decided to come down to Chester early (we’re out for a meal tomorrow night) and call there this evening.
It was extremely cold, but very beautiful - the picture can only give a taste of what was on offer. As well as the static lights, there was also a juggler, dancing fountains and giant colour changing stars. The whole thing was very well organised and the route you should follow was clearly marked. A timed entry system meant that it was not too crowded and once you were in you could take your time going round. Not that the sub-zero temperatures were conducive to loitering! We were planning on having a hot drink and cake in the cafe afterwards, but the long queue and eye-watering prices (two coffees and two mince pies would have been about £12!) had us heading to the flat without delay, where we treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway.
It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it. We are also planning on coming back to the garden next summer to see what it looks like in daylight and with everything in full bloom. Hopefully be a bit warmer as well!
