Fitful Iceberg

A big frost and snow overnight, followed by rain, sleet and more snow.  I think it was windy, but fairly calm and clear tonight.

Left early to work, the roads were hellish.  It took me two attempts to make it up the Scord hill out of Scalloway, and a long slow drive to work.  Mostly working on the check-in desk, all flights delayed, mostly due to mainland airports.  A busy morning getting people moving again.  Sammy was excited for walkies this evening, and loved the snow and calm night.  Feet up now.  We've fairly hit the news headlines, on the telly, newspapers and radio.  I even heard Jeremy Vine tell a story about Ann Cleeves loosing her laptop in Lerwick with a new book stored inside.

Although it's been another wintery day, things have started to move today, and a huge squad of workers arrived to help restore the power cables to the many households without.  After the rain, the roads cleared, and much of the south mainland too.  Hope it doesn't freeze again tonight, or another morning of slippy roads.  When I was out for lunch, I got to admire the new iceberg floating by.  Well it may have passed as an iceberg, if the rains hadn't arrived.  Looking over Virkie towards Fitful Head cliffs.
