An ordinary life....

There's something in the woodshed...

I was up by 7am ready to face the day :-))

It's David's birthday this weekend and we are going out for dinner on Friday night (just us) then going out with Ele and Kenny on Saturday night, and Agnes and Adrian are coming up on Sunday afternoon and staying for dinner.

With all this in mind, one of my main tasks today was to decide what I am wearing to these events (and over Christmas) as I am usually at the coo's tail when getting ready and it all becomes very stressful with me taking so long to decide what to wear (not because I have a vast choice but because I am never happy with how I look in anything!) I end up throwing makeup at my face, blasting my hair with the hairdryer and turning up the complete opposite of cool, calm and collected!  And boy am I glad I decided to be a bit more organised!

My bottom half is easy to dress for going out (or entertaining at home) always black trousers in winter so don't have to worry about that, so I went to the back of my wardrobe where my dressier tops live and picked some out to try.  A couple of new tops that I bought earlier in the year when I saw them (because I can never find what I am looking for when I need it, especially for Christmas) and a couple that I've only worn once.  Tried them all on.  Oh dear.  Well it's good news and bad news.  The bad news is none of them fitted!  The good news is, they are all too big!  I looked like a wee girl trying on her mammies clothes!

I've slowly been losing weight over the last few months (deliberately I mean, I'm not ill :-)) but I didn't realise I'd lost quite so much in inches.  Of course I am happy with the weight loss (lots more to go!) but it was a bit of a shock seeing how shapeless the nice tops were on me, especially as I payed more for one than I would normally spend because "it will be perfect at Christmas"  *rolls eyes*

That made me go back to my wardrobe and bring out more tops to try on and apart from two that are fairly recent purchases, they are all too big, including the lovely festive red top I planned to wear on Christmas Day.    Time for Plan B....

...check out the wardrobe in the wee guest bedroom that is full of what I call my "Too nice to throw out because I will get back into them!" collection :-) and I am pleased to say that I was able to fit into three tops that will be suitable for socialising.  Phew!

I refuse to buy any more clothes while I am losing weight as it's just a waste of money, so for the foreseeable future I will have to put up with clothes that are bit baggy loose, or a tad tight, depending on which wardrobe they come from!

Of course this could all be a moot point (or moo point as Joey in Friends would say :-)) as snow is forecast here starting early hours of Friday morning and lasting all weekend, so I have a sneaking feeling all plans will be cancelled and we will be spending the weekend at home in our pjs!

Hoping Carole will be here Friday morning to give Lola her Christmas trim but that might be cancelled too.  Still, I got her Christmas and birthday gifts wrapped just in case and some more wrapping done too, so feeling quite organised.

More logs arrived for the fire today and these little festive hedgies were keen to settle among the little pile at the side of the fireplace :-))
