BRUNO

Becky and Astrid both had a bad nights sleep so it was decided it was best not to do the Parkrun this morning.  So we were able to have a bit of a lie in.  Then a late breakfast before we we headed to Newcastle.

We had a wander down by the river.  It was quite busy - lots of dog walkers and people carrying shopping - possibly tourists heading back to their hotels. There was also lots of activity to do with the laser light show which was taking place in the evening to see in the New Year.

We walked back up the hill to the centre of Newcastle, had a look at Fenwicks Christmas window and then we split up.  I headed off to the match and the others went for a mooch around Newcastle.

Newcastle were playing Leeds this afternoon.  One of our Brazilian players Bruno Guimaraes wore a signed Pele number 10 shirt before kick off.  The teams and crowd held a minutes applause in memory of former Brazil player Pele who died on 29th December.

The match was not a memorable one.  Neither team played well. Newcastle did have a few chances but didn't convert them into goals. The final score was 0 - 0.  I think Becky was rather pleased that I didn't manage to get her a ticket for the game.  She would have been annoyed to have missed a good game but this one was far from good.

After the match I walked to the Eldon Square shopping centre to meet up with the others.  We decided to meet up somewhere indoors as it was raining.  They had been to Five Guys for a burger and to a new coffee shop in the Central Arcade while I was at the match.

We walked back to where the car was parked - the rain was getting heavier as we walked so were were soaked by the time we got to the car park.  The traffic was bad and it took a while to get across the river but then the roads were clear.

Back home to get dried off and into our PJ's.  Mike cooked spaghetti bolognese for tea.  We watched some TV.  Becky and Astrid went to bed quite early while Mike and me stayed watching TV till midnight.

We may be gong to a Parkrun in the morning. ( depending on how everyone feels ) They are usually only held on Saturdays but a few venues are having a special one on New Years Day.  The nearest one to us is about a 20 min drive away.

I would like to wish all my blip friends a HAPPY NEW YEAR.  I hope 2023 brings good health and happiness to each and every one of you.  Take care.
