A Day In The Life

White on White

We awoke to a one colored world. In a matter of hours the grass and trees and rocks had all turned to white. It wasn’t a big storm, only 5-6”, but another is coming Sunday night, then a third later next week. I think winter has finally arrived! Better late than never, they say • Our feeders were the most active they’ve been since last winter. What fun to see so many juncos, house finches, gold finches, cardinals, titmice, nuthatches, chickadees, mourning doves, white-throated sparrows, and a hawk!! Yes! I noticed all of the birds had suddenly disappeared so I stepped outside to take a look around. I heard and then watched four blackbirds frantically squawking and chasing a larger bird with a striped tail. They were flying fast and low maneuvering like fighter jets through the trees before I lost sight of them • The little birds eventually returned making for an entertaining day of picture taking. Lots of shoveling done too with a bit more to finish up tomorrow • Happy Friday, and Happy Weekend to you!
