An ordinary life....

A birthday invitation on my birthday...

Finally!  My invitation to LeeAnne's 50th birthday party arrived.  It has been much anticipated and didn't disappoint.  Lola, who never disturbs the mail, was obviously excited by it too!  Thankfully David arrived back just in time to rescue it!

Brilliant invitation LeeAnne!  :-))  And all the better for the cassette being Duran Duran's Rio :-)))  Really cheered me up on not the best birthday ever. Can't wait for your amazing birthday weekend x

Not the best news tonight.  Alan had a really unsettled evening.  His temperature is back up to 38 degrees.  He was supposed to get chest physio twice today but only got it once.  Things go a bit awry on the ward on the weekend and it's not guaranteed that Doctors or therapists are available with the same regularity as a weekday.  I think he felt the gunk in the back of his throat and started to panic slightly that he wouldn't be able get rid of it.  He ended up getting two lots of saline nebuliser, suctioned, his salbutamol inhaler, paracetamol and diazepam.

This was all happening as the night staff were taking over.  His named nurse for overnight came and introduced herself.  She is lovely.  The female doctor who came to check on him was also lovely and very thorough. Between the nurse and the doctor they got a load of gunk removed, leaving Alan much more settled.

We stayed till he was fully settled, which after all that intervention, didn't take long.  He was exhausted.  He is still insisting he is coming home on Monday.  I suspect he may need more antibiotics and given that he's still reliant on oxygen, chest physio, nebulisers and suctioning, I think Monday is a bit optimistic.

Since we hadn't eaten since our light lunch, David treated me to a birthday McDonalds on the way home from the hospital.  Not sure how we will top that next year ;-)
