Wells

We were going to go to the Avalon Marshes Centre today but the day started off very cold and icy so we decided to 'do' a city instead.  We have always wanted to visit Wells but never made it, so Wells was to be today's go to place.

It is a really nice place to visit, apparently the UK's smallest city, and we spent a few hours exploring.   We started off in Nero for coffee then onto the cathedral.   What we hadn't expected was the Bishop's Palace, a huge place surrounded by fortified walls and a moat, as Ann said "Baddesley Clinton on steroids"!

We walked by the moat then over the drawbridge into the grounds.  We decided not to go into the building (£16pp) but made use of the very nice cafe in the grounds for lunch before heading over to the cathedral.

On return to Street we took a look at the street murals and then popped into The Bear Inn for a drink before heading back to our Airbnb. (See extras).
