A treat

Jon and I worked this morning, then packed up and headed south. We picked up some fruit trees en route, then first stop Waitrose cafe in Swaffham for a quick lunch. The highlight of which was getting my first King Charles lll 50p in my change. I was quite ecstatic! Stage 2 of the drive took us to Melbourn where we dropped in on Jon's parents, plus Sal, Sophie and Levi, who as cute as ever was taking centre stage!

We caught up on the latest news, then back in the car for the final 40 minute drive to Hoddesdon. More catching up, then Rod kindly treated us all to a lovely meal at the Raj Mahal in Hoddesdon. It was extremely busy - but always has been popular since we started visiting it in 1982 when it opened. I'm sure it's the place where we introduced Jon's parents to Indian food in the 1980s.

Jon and I decided to walk home, retracing the Friday evening walk home of our youth. In the 80s we used to go to The Salisbury- a pub in the town centre which I think is now called The Star. We used to have only one drink each, sitting in the small window seat, then walked home to spend the rest of the evening watching TV (Moonlighting was our favourite). We were usually home no later than 9.30. Tonight with the mild weather it was nice to have the fresh air and exercise, and we noticed how almost all the houses in the estate have had additions, or adaptations to their structures. From small porches to huge loft conversions, with one end plot doubling the size of their house with an extension. Interesting to see how things have changed over time.

We get the soft single beds tonight. Then tree jobs tomorrow before heading home tomorrow evening.
