Architecture

(29/1/23)

Day 2

We joined Blast today at her hotel and had breakfast with her. It was an incredible spread where you'd have to be very disciplined to eat enough and still be able to get on and do things!! ;)

Today was more of an architectural day, with the Museum of the Future being the first building to see. As we drove past it with G in the back seat, we got very different shots to what she usually gets. I have a second extra of just buildings.

We headed to the Palm via Jumeirah, just taking in the spread of the land and the different types of architecture here. Blast wanted to see Infinity Tower, so we drove the entire Crescent. Sadly, Infinity Tower can no longer be seen from the Palm as a new building is being constructed right in front of it!!

On to EXPO City, I spotted scooters for hire. I've been dying to try an electric scooter, so started the process to rent one. It didn't work, so walking around the site remains the default mode to get around. We managed to get a few "taxi" rides which helped muchly. Yesterday's rain getting on my knees is causing problems today.

It was time to stop for a coffee and cake. Blast then legged her way to one of the Entrance Portals to get a close-up view. We got a buggy taxi and met up with her and then had a tour of the site, eventually seeing all three portals. :))

The Al Wasl dome was fascinating as always, with a Christmas show still playing. We managed to catch it twice. The second time around was better, especially as it had got dark at this stage. The way that images are projected on each panel is mind-blowing.

We had our first-ever ride on Garden in the Sky. I wish G & I had done this during one of our many visits to EXPO 2020. It was so worth it! Dinner at ECCO before heading home. We drove past the Museum of the Future in the night, so took more shots of it! I *think* we were home by 10:30. So impressed with the stamina of our visitor. We have a big day tomorrow with rachelwhynot arriving for the first time since 2018!
