Life in Sunny Dubai

Vision

(29/1/23)

We had planned to be at EXPO City when it opened at 10 AM, but a poorly car scuppered our plans. I had failed to find a hire car, so looked on eKar - the local ride-share app. There was one available three-minute walk from home, so we set out towards it. I soon saw why it had been there for over twelve hours. It had been in an accident! Argh.

Another one was within 300 metres, but when you're in a hurry, that's too far to walk, so we drove the car to find it. It was OK, but we were already in our car, so we drove all the way to EXPO, a mere 50km.

Another Sunday, another EXPO visit! Today, we booked to visit the pavilions which are open, namely Alif, Terra, Women's and Vision. It took us six hours to do them all - not rushing, but not sitting around either. We stopped for lunch at ECCO, who served up their second-to-none pizza but couldn't get their act together with the salad!

All attempts to get to Garden in the Sky while there was still light failed. Never mind, it was still as good to see it at night (again). No shows today in the Al Wasl Dome; just their generic offering. Today, I saw the Space show, which I saw on my first visit all the way back in October 2021!

My blip is taken in the Vision Pavilion - one that G & I did not get to during our EXPO visits. It was worth going in today especially as we had a guided tour. The pavilion was a gift from the UAE organisers to our Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed. The main feature is the statue of this horse - Dubai Millennium, Sheikh Mohammed's favourite horse.
