The Arizona
Market is a curious,
temporary place

I made a quick trip to the Arizona Market, a very large outdoor business location in the Foothills. It is constructed of long rows of concrete with overhead beams that support temporary partitions which create individual businesses/shops. One walks down the centre with the units on both sides of the walkway.

I was on my way to the quilt shop this morning. The owner comes from another state and sets up shop here for the snowbirds during the winter months. I was reminded of the temporary nature of this whole complex when I realized the floor in the quilt shop was still wet after the couple of days of rain we've just had.

You can find almost anything your heart desires in this market place, but only for the winter months. It has acres of parking, food services, decorative items, fresh produce, hardware, jewelry, clothing, entertainment, furniture.....It caters largely to snowbirds, their pets, their recreation vehicles and their hobbies...Before the heat of summer, it empties out and becomes a place for storage. Recreation vehicles can be parked under the high overhead awnings protecting them from the sizzle.
