An ordinary life....

Scratchy thistle...

Woke at 7am and felt bright eyed so got showered and dressed.  David headed off to Dunbar at 9am to meet up with Keith, Jim and Nigel for a four ball.

Poor D has a horrendous sty in his left eye.  He saw the optician yesterday who suggested he get a warming eye mask that provides some pressure.  They were out of stock but a local pharmacy had one in stock.  If that doesn't reduce the redness and swelling in a couple of days he's to go back and they will prescribe an antibiotic.  Didn't put him off his golf though (I suspect he'd try to play with a broken leg!)

I spent a chunk of the morning parcelling up all the rejected wedding outfits and arranging to return them to whence they came.  After lunch, with Alan also out gallivanting, I took myself to the studio to tidy up then took a notion to have a play with acrylic ink.

A couple of hours later I had four abstracts (three in extras, the fourth was still wet) and my blip...a loosely drawn thistle using a glass pen and the acrylic inks.  This was one of my three minute exercises and was great fun.  I absolutely love how the ink interacts with the water and I look forward to doing more glass pen illustrations using the ink, only spending more time planning the drawing and using proper watercolour paper.  This thistle was done on cheap card that can't take a lot of water so it was quite warped.  Good fun though.

Took delivery of new chairs for the kitchen table.  It's only taken six years to get our act together.  We ordered four different chairs when we fitted the new kitchen in 2016/2017, then Alan took ill (deja vu!) and we missed the deadline for returning the ones we weren't going to keep so for six years we've had four similar but different chairs!  Quirky but annoying.  Not opened the boxes yet, that's a job for tomorrow, but looking forward to seeing them.  Fingers crossed we're happy with them!  :-))
