Seafood Interlude

The big winter storm wasn't supposed to arrive until 2 p.m. or so, and we decided to run into town for a nice lunch out, a bit of shopping, and a quick walk by a stream at a local park on the way home. We got to town around 10:40, and discovered, much to our surprise, that the Big Lots store was not opening until 11 a.m.

There was a big sign by the doors about adjusted hours, but I didn't see it until I'd made a fool of myself pulling and pushing and banging on the front doors, which wouldn't give! Yes, I had a $10 off $40 coupon and I was ready to use it! So we rearranged our errands, my husband went to Sam's Club first, and then we hit Big Lots (and used that coupon!).

My husband also put a takeout order in for us for lunch from Perkins, which we ate in the car. Above you may see my meal, which is called the Double Catch: two crispy cod fillets with four jumbo fried shrimp (one shrimp is hiding under a sauce). Served with fries - or in my case, tater tots - and cocktail and tartar sauces.

My husband had ordered the fish 'n chips meal (three crispy cod fillets with tartar sauce, fries or tots, and a salad). I ate one of my pieces of fish, three of the fried shrimp, and a couple of tots in the car. We both still had tots left for later! (These tots are TOO FINE!)

My soundtrack song for this delicious meal is an old standby favorite: Under the Sea, from the Little Mermaid.
