Puerto

The last day of the holiday started with an ‘English breakfast’ at La Brisa in the shopping complex. In spite of the, somewhat, predictable nature of an English breakfast it was in a lovely setting.  After a bit of packing and check-out we took a cab to Puerto del Carmen where we first stopped for a drink with a view of the harbour and then had some lunch at the delightfully named, Banana Tapas & Cocktails. I opted for the small paella which, I think, is why everybody’s meal took a long time to arrive.

We spent the afternoon in the villa with Nick and Sarah before attempting to find a taxi. This proved much harder than we thought. The booked taxi never arrived and we walked through the town desperately trying to find a taxi rank. In the end I managed to hail a cab that was heading our way and I don’t think the taxi driver had seen four more relieved people in a long time. Of course we made Lanzarote Airport in plenty of time.

We all had business class seats but there was a bit of a queue for the very small lounge at one end of the airpot. The lady behind the desk didn’t realise we were four and sat PY and Mark down before trying to send Rob and me away.  Fortunately, there were two more seats at the table so we waited in a packed lounge. At least there were some free snacks and a little bit of wine. It was, perhaps, not the best food to end a holiday with.

We were back at Gatwick in the early hours and a taxi home by about 3am.
