Progressions

After the high of an excellent conference and a convivial dinner last night, I had the task of trekking home today. My day started with sleet in the dark in Oxford at around 6.15am. I got to the station early, and caught an earlier train to London, hoping that I'd be able to get an earlier train north, but the LNER staff were in jobsworth mode and said my ticket was only valid on the 9am. So I had to wait for an hour in the (first class) waiting room, but that had its uses, as I got a lot of email done under decent conditions. As can be seen from the different "layers" of the collage, the weather got better and better as we went north, although also colder and colder.

When I eventually got the train all went fine and I arrived in good time in Edinburgh to be able to chair my 2pm meeting, before heading home on the bus for a chilly evening and a terrible sleepless night.

Despite the travelling, the conference was definitely, definitely worth it!
