Another One Bites The Dust . . . Queen

This is the site of the office tower that the lovely daughter was working in on 22nd February 2011 when Christchurch was struck by an earthquake.  Her office was on the 14th floor.  When I come to Christchurch I like to see what progress has be made on deconstructing the building.  Here it is in 2015.  It sat like that for years.    Finally a plan has been announced and the Catholic Church are to build a new Catholic cathedral, car park, offices,  a commercial building, and apartments.   These will all open out onto the river.
We then met up with the foresters sister and husband and went to the museum to see Shift Urban Art Take Over.  Apparently the Museum buildings are leaky, cramped and no longer fit for purpose.  The contents have been removed and the spaces given over to urban art.  It is a winding trail taking in 35 spaces across five floors.  I adored it.  60 artists from here and overseas were let loose on the walls, floors and ceilings.  The exhibition ends in April and then five years of major building redevelopment begins.
