Birthday afternoon tea

Part 2 of my birthday celebrations first necessitated a trip to the supermarket this morning. This was followed by flower arranging, baking, and setting the table with our best glassware and china. Mr hazelh also iced and decorated the cake that he made yesterday.

Petrina, Stephen, Liz and Tony arrived just after 3pm. We had planned a wander along to the Royal Botanic Garden after tea and cake. However, Petrina has some broken bones from a recent ski-ing accident and a fall down stairs (two separate accidents). This means that walking is currently out of the question for her. Instead we all sat at the kitchen table (blipped) and ate, drank and chatted for the full two and half hours that our guests were with us. We all enjoyed the lively conversation, as well as the food and drink.

Liz and Tony gave me Persiana as a birthday present. This prompted me to audit my recipe books after our guests left. Then it was time for a simple supper of soup, cheese and crackers and an hour in front of the television learning about British grasslands from David Attenborough.

Exercise today: very small amount of walking (6252 steps).
