MONO MONDAY - SCARIFYING

My shot, through the conservatory window, of Mr. HCB scarifying the grass before sowing the wild flower seeds at a later date.  At least it was sunny - rain is predicted for the rest of the week so not much will be done in the garden. 

I wonder if this word originated in Cornwall?
