Vacation Day 3 - Fun Afternoon

The day started out murky and cold but the sun came out midday and it was really quite lovely. My friend Lori has an interior design business (although she's mostly retired now) which means she can use her business to buy plants at the wholesale nursery nearby. So we went over mid-afternoon and found a bunch of plants for us both. So much fun!

Afterwards we went to McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern and had an adult beverage and a happy hour burger. The place has a fascinating history, if you're interested in reading about it on their website.

Bergenia cordifolia also known simply as Bergenia, and also as Pig Squeak, named for the sound the leaves make when rubbed together ;-)

In the extra: Cascadian Nurseries has a pride of peacocks (I looked the term up!) and they're typically hanging around the entrance to the business office. Today I think we saw two females and at least five males, but no males in their full glory. What a screech they make!
