A time for everything

Opportunist!

When Roger came home from work, we were sitting outside drinking our tea, and watching the birds on the bird feeder. I had just filled the feeder up yesterday for the first time in ages - the poor birds get fed rather erratically around here I'm afraid. The feeders hang from a pole, and whilst the pole has a squirrel baffle, which does seem to work at preventing the squirrels climbing the pole, I noticed today that the branches of the nearby tree must have grown, and the squirrels were jumping onto the feeder from the tips of the branch. I mentioned this to Roger, and so he went and got the steps and between us we pulled the branch down and he was able to cut it back some. By this time he had to leave for a meeting at church, and I had to leave for the airport to meet Laura, returned from visiting family in England. So the steps got left outside. When we got back, the squirrel was sitting on the top of the steps, trying to work out if he could jump onto the feeder from there! Time will tell if the branch has been cut back enough!
