SHE'S SAFE!

The local high school opened its home softball and baseball seasons today.  They both played the teams from Reedsville, a conference rival. The Home softball team (girls) in white shirts won the game 8-7.  #3 shown here was pinch running for an injured player and just beat out the tag by the Reedsville's 3rd baseman and was called Safe.

The baseball team (boys) had a very bad day losing 15-0. Here, a home team batter, #23, is hit by a pitched ball.  He got a free run to 1st base.

Baseball is termed hardball....while softball is a misnomer.  A softball is larger in diameter/circumference than a hardball but if you ever get hit by a hard pitched softball you will quickly realize that it's not all that soft. ORIGINALLY, softballs were soft......not any longer.  If you try to catch one with your face instead of a glove it will HURT!
