Funny boy....

.....wearing the remains of the latest cuddly toy, destroyed!
It was a horrid drive to Skeeby to see Barry's mum this morning, wet and foggy over the tops. We had a quick bite to eat and a cuppa and then set off for the hospital in Northallerton. We arrived well before visiting and got parked after a bit searching. We had some time to waste so went for yet another cuppa in the café at the hospital, after riding up and down in the lift as Barry's mum was certain the café was on the 2nd floor! When we got to see dad he had two lovely physio ladies with him. They got him out of the chair and escorted him up and down the ward, them carrying his oxygen and his chest drain and he pushing the walker. He looked very, very thin and pale and also extremely frail, almost ghostly. When he finally got back seated we sat with him for about 40 minutes which apparently is the longest time he's wanted anyone to stay for visiting so far. A porter came along to take him for an X-ray. Dad said it would be good for us to go then as he would be wanting a rest when he got back from there. We spoke to the nurses and the physios about how mum would not be able to look after him without help when he's discharged. They are going to make sure all we said has been noted and start the process of a care plan. The X-ray will show if his lungs are looking any better from the draining. He still has two drips into his hand for medication and painkillers. One arm is completely black and blue and swollen from fingers to elbow so the drip is now in the other one. I think mum is worried about how she will cope if he comes home, however much she would love him to be able to return. We're just taking it a day at a time for now. I'd baked a cake for her so when we got back from the hospital I stayed and had yet another cuppa and a slice of cake. It was another miserable wet journey home, but I was pleased I'd been. I had a quick bite to eat and phoned my mum just to do the daily check in. Luckily she'd had quite a good day so the day ended not so badly.
Grateful:
For a comfy car
For wonderful carers
For a happy dog pleased to see me and who always makes me smile
