Settlement Day

We were up at 6am this morning as we’d agreed to be at the apartment by 7:30am so the new owner could have his lounge suite delivered.  He is a really nice guy and we had a great conversation with him.  After he left we went across the road for breakfast then returned to the apartment to sweep and wash the floors.  There was another delivery at midday, so we had another conversation with A, who is really looking forward to living there.  That made us very happy.

Having finished cleaning, we packed up the car, topped up with petrol, and dropped off a couple of things on our way to Eastridge, where we had lunch and watched the rain come down. We bought some fruit then went for a doctor’s appointment. I need a letter for the short time we’re in the States confirming that the tablets I take to keep the pain under control are medically prescribed.  I also got the repeat prescription so I can top up before we go. Whilst we were there we took the opportunity to get our flu jabs.  We talked to the doctor about getting the third booster that’s now available and he thought it was a good idea given that we’re going to be travelling, so we’ll get that next week.

We were sad as we left the apartment as we’d put a lot into it and it looks lovely and we’ll miss the view, but we’ve got our trip to Europe and the UK to look forward to and the excitement of a new adventure in Oamaru. We are now staying with my sister and brother-in-law and we spent an enjoyable, relaxing evening with them learning how to play Five Crowns, eating chocolate and trying to fit pieces into a jigsaw puzzle.

The settlement went through successfully for our sale and the deposit was paid on our purchase, so all our ducks are now lined up.

I was very tired tonight, so this is being posted late.

The blip is self-explanatory.
