Tea & Books...

..and Art!

It was book club day at Sandy's in Port Perry. The book was The Marriage Portrait  by Maggie O'Farrell  - the story of the young duchess Lucrezia de' Medici, set in Renaissance Italy. The response was unanimous - we all really liked it. In the past, Hamnet, another book by her, had also been one of our favourites, so it seems we are fans!

We met first for lunch and discussion of the book and then went over to Sandy's local library for their "Tea and Books" afternoon. Every other month, two go their librarians summarize and do a reading from books they have chosen; there are usually 5 in total and we always discover at least a couple that interest us for our next season's book club selection.

The Tea and Books outing is always enjoyable and every now and then there is a bonus... an interesting art exhibit in the next room!  This time there was one and it really caught my eye - an explosion of colour just when I needed some! The exhibit was called Garden of Stories  - a collection of abstract paintings by Michael Black, a local artist. Wow..I just loved some of them and would happily hang one up in my living room! (extra)

It was a fun day and it also took my focus away from the panic and perils of packing...which was a good thing. I came home, relaxed, had dinner and even knitted a few rows on a shawl (!)...before heading up to attack those suitcases again....  the never ending saga...
