An ordinary life....

Cannae get the wean aff the swing...

Translation...can't get the child off the swing ;-)

When I woke up this morning I was dreaming I was relaxing on a lovely boat in the middle of a quiet loch, a warm breeze blowing on my face.  When the warm breeze began to feel hot and noisy, I opened one eye to find Lola eyeballing me at the side of the bed, smiling and heavy breathing right in my face!  No idea how long she'd been there but I told her to go back to the hall and lie down and to my surprise she did!  :-))

Once up and organised D took Lola for her morning walk.  The walks around the cottage are amazing and they've both enjoyed the new scenery and Lola all the new scents to sniff.

D and Lola arrived back at the cottage just before our holiday visitor arrived...LeeAnne :-))

She is gearing up for the wedding season starting again at the wonderful Netherbyres in Eyemouth tomorrow, with a very busy summer ahead, so she took advantage of being her own boss and fitted in a wee visit to us.  Woo hoo, good times!  :-)

After lunch D headed off to play golf at Goswick Golf course (one of England's top 50 courses apparently) but before he left he gave LeeAnne a quick tutorial on folding my wheels and getting them into and out of the car.  She's a fast learner!

We had a coffee then headed out to Cornhill-on-Tweed to visit a shop that's just moved from the Main Street to a much more accessible unit.  It was our type of shop, filled with lots of individual crafts made by local women. It was a bit of an Aladdin's cave and we had great fun exploring every inch of it.  And of course we both bought lovely things :-)

Once done we headed back along the road (and back into Scotland :-) to Coldstream, to the coffee shop at the Hirsel Estate.  Our timing was perfect as the sun came out, we bought ice cream and sat outside.

Spotted a little pottery across from the cafe so of course had to investigate that.  The owner had an absolutely delightful golden retriever puppy who is six months old.  He is working very hard to train him to not jump up and be calmer around people.  Think I will send Lola along to him!  Lots of wonderful ceramics in the shop so of course we had to buy some of those. Most of my purchases today will be blipped at some point :-)

We explored the rest of the little steading finding a beautiful glassware shop (it was just closing so didn't go in) as well as a unit that said "Pheasant Feather Art" and we discussed how amazing it is that an artist could make a living out of creating art with pheasant feathers.  Having now googled the vey talented artist Claire Bronlow, I have discovered she doesn't create art from pheasant feathers, she creates art using pheasant feathers!  That makes much more sense! hahahaha!

And of course we couldn't leave the steading till LeeAnne had a go on the swings :-)

The weather was still lovely so we went for a wander past the large pond with swans, ducks and geese till we reached the field with the Heilan' Coos.  We hoped they'd come over for a selfie but they were much more interested in eating grass than us.

Headed back to the car and the cottage.  Lola was asleep when we got back but soon got hyper at our return...well LeeAnne's return :-)  Just enjoying a coffee when Rob, one half of the couple who owns the cottage popped in to make sure we'd had a good time and were happy with the cottage.  Lola was very happy to see him too!  Thankfully he also has excitable dogs so wasn't phased by her demands for attention.

D returned from the golf not long after (having had a great day.  Couldn't wait to tell LeeAnne all about it, hole by hole! :-) with fish suppers for dinner.  Just the thing for a Friday evening, especially when it's the last night of a holiday.

After dinner and more blethers, LeeAnne headed off and we made a start on the packing .  It's amazing how much faster it is to pack on the way home!

We've had such a lovely time here.  We would definitely return to this little cottage.
